The Onboarding Playbook
Set a new assistant up to run your day-to-day from week one.

A great hire fails when onboarding is an afterthought. The goal is simple: by the end of week one, they are already taking real work off your plate. Here is the system that gets you there.
1. Prep before day one
Have access, logins, and a short context doc ready before they start. Nothing kills momentum like a first day spent waiting for a password. A password manager and a one-page "how I work" note do most of the heavy lifting.
2. Day one: context, access, one small win
Walk them through how you think and what matters to you, hand over access, then give them one small, finishable task. Ending day one with a real win sets the tone for everything after.
3. The first week: shadow, then do
Let them watch you handle your inbox and calendar once, then hand it over with you reviewing. By day three or four they should be drafting, and you should be approving rather than doing.
4. Document as you go
Every time you explain something, have them turn it into a short SOP. Explain it once, capture it, and never explain it again. In a few weeks you have a living manual for how your world runs.
5. The 30-day ramp
Add one new area of responsibility each week rather than everything at once. By day 30 they should own your inbox, calendar, follow-ups, and a recurring process or two, with a weekly review keeping you in sync.
